Motorcycle Tours in Uruguay
The Heart of the Rural Interior: Florida to Polanco Motorcycle Adventure (2 Days/1 Night)
This tour is designed for the adventurous rider seeking the soul of Uruguay's countryside. You'll trace the historic routes of the central departments of Florida and Lavalleja, balancing well-paved sections with rugged, scenic dirt roads (50/50), while stopping at legendary rural pubs and camping under the southern stars.

Day 1: The Trail of the Pulperías and the Camping at Cebollatí River
Morning: The City and the Country
- Start Point: The city of Florida.
- Initial Route: Begin by heading west, mixing the main Ruta 56.
Midday: Cerro Colorado and The Offroad Begins
- Lunch Stop: We will stop in Cerro Colorado for lunch.
- The Offroad Begins: Soon, you’ll leave the asphalt for the caminos vecinales (dirt roads) after Cerro Colorado. These roads will take you through vast, rolling grasslands (campo uruguayo) dotted with estancias and native forests. Expect sections of gravel, packed earth, and perhaps mud depending on the recent weather—this is where your adventure tires earn their keep!
- Cultural Stop: Seek out an old-school rural pub, known as a Pulpería. A magnificent 19th-century construction near Polanco, or a simple almacén de ramos generales (general store/pub) where you can experience the true, slow pace of the interior.
- Experience: Stop for a traditional meal or just a cold refresco and some local cheese and cured meats. These spots are social hubs, often unchanged for generations, and are perfect for chatting with locals (or paisanos).
Afternoon & Evening: Riverside Camp
- Afternoon: Heading to the Cebollatí river for camping. We will chop wood for a proper fireplace.
- Night: Set up your camp next to the river. Prepare a traditional Uruguayan asado (barbecue) on a parrillero if available, or cook your camp meal. Enjoy the profound silence and the clear, unpolluted view of the stars, a world away from the city.

Day 2: The Open Road and Polanco's Artistry
Morning: River Activities and Basc Culture
- Activities: Wake up to the sounds of the river. Enjoy a morning coffee, pack up your gear, and perhaps try some fishing or just a walk along the water's edge.
- Cultural Stop: To the Almacén Julieta, an old-school shop that offers organic meals and celebrates the tradition of the Basque culture. We will have the opportunity to play some pelota vasca and visit a nearby waterfall.
Afternoon: The Ride Concludes
- End of Tour: Conclude your tour in Polanco, Lavalleja or begin your ride back toward your starting point or next destination, refreshed and with a new appreciation for the diverse and historical interior of Uruguay.
Essential Gear & Tips for a 50/50 Tour
